How does it work ?

The device beams highly concentrated light into hair follicles, without damaging the skin. Pigment in the follicles absorb the light, destroying the hair at its root.
If you are not happy with shaving, tweezing, or waxing to remove unwanted hair, laser hair removal may be an option worth considering because it has a high rate of success, specially for dark, coarse hairs while leaving the surrounding skin undamaged. Lasers are useful for removing unwanted hair from the face, leg, arm, underarm, bikini line, and other areas.
For treating fair hair, there is a new technique heating the hair roots.
Your options will be discussed and evaluated during your first consultation.

Is it permanent?

A high number of patients have permanent hair loss after an average of three to five sessions because it can rid hair on the right candidates for long periods of time, with multiple treatments. Hair growth is slower, fewer and finer.

How to prepare for laser hair removal with IPL?

It is paramount that you avoid sun exposure for at least six weeks before and after treatment. Tanned skin makes laser hair removal less effective and makes complications after treatment more likely. If you are under any type of medication you should inform your doctor before treatment because some medication may give side effetcs under laser light. If you are planning on undergoing laser hair removal, you should limit plucking, waxing, and electrolysis for six weeks before treatment. That's because the laser targets the hairs' roots, which are temporarily removed by waxing or plucking. However the area to be treated must be shaved 1 to 3 days before treatment.

What you should know after the treatment?

Sun exposure is NOT allowed. You must protect yourself from the sun by using a hat and sun screening cream should you be exposed to the sun. In case of irritation, we recommend Avene Cicalfate healing cream.

What are the side effects and risks after treatment?

Hair removal with IPL is a safe treatment. However some normal side effects may occur after laser hair removal procedure, including itching, pink skin, redness, and swelling around the treated area. These side effects rarely last more than two or three days. The two most common serious side effects are acne and skin discoloration.

  • The occurrence of a superficial burn is possible, it results in small "scabs" who disappear in three to five days.

  • Irritation of moles of possible but reversible and safe.

  • Paradoxical regrowth were noted, especially on the cheeks (cheeks, sideburns) when processing a duvet.

  • Laser hair removal is sometimes less effective on the forehead or neck.

Is depilation painful?

The treatment involves a series of pulses which is accompanied by a tingling sensation, especially marked in the more sensitive areas like the underarms or bikini. We can compare the sensation to the treatment that we feel if we take a series of shots with a rubber band. The treatment is generally well tolerated. In case of high sensitivity, a less painful treatment but longer possible (technical SHR).

How many sessions does it take for best results?

Several sessions are necessary to greatly reduce hair growth. According to current data, it is estimated that 4 to 12 sessions (scans or passages) on each area treated (based on zones, sex, age, color of skin, hair initial and expected results). Treatment sessions are optionally followed by annual maintenance treatment for optimal results. For brown hair on light skin, 80 to 90% of the hair does not grow after a correct treatment.

The number of sessions required is reduced with age, conversely younger patients often require more sessions. If the skin is dark (matt) the number of sessions will be more important.

To achieve the desired results, it usually takes five to seven sessions for half legs, bikini line and underarms, they are spread over one to two years. It will take more sessions to other areas of the body (legs, arms, etc..), Usually between ten and twelve. The facial hair may require up to 15 sessions, but only certain areas are usually treated (because the cheekbones, forehead and down favorites are generally discouraged).

A more accurate estimate of the number of sessions is given in the consultation is essential. It mainly depends on the area being treated, the age, sex and color of the skin but also the expected results.

The number of sessions required is higher among young women before age 25 years in those with a hormonal problem. Men and patients with dark skin also require more sessions for a satisfactory result.

How manytime between depilation sessions?

The first 3 sessions are usually in 1 month apart each. Then, it is advisable to wait at least 2 months. In practice, you can practice the next session when regrowth is visible (let the hair have pushed up because the hair that will not permanently remove hair still see a significant slowdown in their growth rate).

What are the cons-indications of hair removal with IPL?

Recent exposures to sunlight or UV in the cabin, taking photosensitizing drugs, the existence of a photosensitizing disease (lupus ...).

What alternative for darker skin?

The principle of hair removal based on the destruction of the pigment, dark skin treatment should be considered with other techniques than this. Current alternatives are the SHR or 1064 nm YAG laser (also available).
